Airbnb and Why You Should Try It!

**This post was originally written while in Thailand in April 2016. I have many posts that get written but I never seem to post. This one I felt could be helpful for anyone traveling with someone else. I hope you enjoy.**

Generally in the past I have traveled alone. But for the past couple of months I have been traveling with my friend Mat. This has given us a neat opportunity. We generally stay in hostels for the most part but we have had tremendous success with a website called Airbnb. Airbnb is a website where people put either their whole apartment or just a room for rent.

This has given us quite the experience. We have been able to meet many locals and made friends with our hosts due to this. My best experience thus far has been in Chiang Mai. There we met our friend Tan. We were renting a room from him. He met us with a big smile and told us where all the good bars were at. He then invited us to a little party with some friends on the roof that night.

The party was so much fun. We met many of our hosts friends, and they cooked up a feast of food which we all enjoyed. We played drinking games and told stories. It’s a night I will cherish for a very long time. This experience was made all because of Airbnb and our awesome host. I remember looking at Mat during the party and saying this was our greatest decision we had made the whole trip so far. (Still stands after me Mat our on different paths.)

We also used Airbnb during Songkran (see more about it HERE). Our host, during songkran had family visiting and they wanted us to join them in the festivities. We splashed water at anyone who passed our little home. We had water gun fights with their children and then they introduced us to their neighbours. It made an already unforgettable event, truly special. This experience again was granted by Airbnb.

Craziness that is Songkran

Airbnb gives you so much more than just a place to stay, it gives you an experience. A rare glimpse into the lives of locals. You get to meet locals, who are excited to meet you and want to share their culture with you. Every time I have used this service I have not been disappointed. I will definitely use Airbnb in the future. The friends and experience that I have gotten from Airbnb our priceless.

Have you used Airbnb before? Do you have any cool stories from it? Please share in the comments bellow! Also be sure if you go to Chiang Mai check out or on airbnb and visit my friend Tan!

Thank you again for your support everyone!
