THIS POST IS NSFW(NOT SAFE FOR WORK). MATURE CONTENT OF A SEXUAL NATURE AHEAD! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
As I have said in my previous post, Jeju island is also known as the island of love. This then inspired some art students from Hongik University in Seoul to open up a park on Jeju. Featuring the most intimate setting of love. Loveland is a place featuring many statues, just about all of them having sex. In a country that is fairly conservative, where pornography is even illegal. This park seems very out of place, considering the graphic nature of the art.
Again you have been WARNED to do not scroll down if you are not comfortable with Images of a SEXUAL CONTENT!
The park was mostly filled with couples, or groups of giggling girls. They posed with the statues, taking pictures and then laughing with their friends. If you are hungry there is a food court that serves phallic shaped food.
This park is definitely unique. I would suggest you go and check it out if you are comfortable with walking by all these statues that can be very graphic and uncomfortable for some. Talking with other people who have gone, reactions are all mixed. Some people really enjoyed the park while others found it disturbing and distasteful. I think it very much depends on your comfort level with the content. Be warned as you can see in my photographs the park is graphic. An alternative to the park is there is a very lovely art museum right next to Loveland.
To get to Loveland go to an intercity bus station and take the #46 bus and then walk up the road a bit and it is well signed to the park. Walk back to the bus station to get back. Altho if you can find a schedule for the bus going back to the city that might be helpful. As I waited 2.5 HRS for a bus! The admission to the park is 9000KRW. If you have time check out the art museum next to Loveland it houses some beautiful art showcasing Korean culture on Jeju. It might help you get back to reality after the smut fest of Loveland. I don’t feel like Loveland is really about art but more a shocking park for many. How ever you interrupt it, it can be an interesting visit or at the very least unique for sure.
Have you been to Loveland? What did you think of it? Would you go to Loveland? Please leave comments bellow!
